On the Bandstand

Welcome to the VJC's guest reviewers' blog.

About this blog: For all major shows that take place at the Vermont Jazz Center we will invite a well-versed friend to describe the concert from their point of view. Our guests will discuss the artist(s), the music, the interaction, the atmosphere, the audience, the whole package that affected their experience. This reminder will jolt our listeners' memories and create an environment where one can re-live and reflect on meaningful aspects of the concert.

And it's for you too: This blog is an open forum - we invite you to respond to our guest's review or simply add your own observations. This forum is a means for the extended Vermont Jazz Center community to connect with each other and get involved. Lively opinions are encouraged!

Who writes our reviews: Guest authors include musicians, writers and members of the community that have a connection to the music performed. They will often give us some information about the artist(s) and put the performance into a historical and/or cultural context. Their unique perspective will help us understand the music better, give us insight on what to listen for and reflect on certain cultural, historical and social contexts in which the music takes place.
