Eugene Uman
Pianist and composer, Eugene Uman continues to explore the gold mine of rhythms he was first exposed to while living in Colombia, South America. Some of the names of these rhythms are familiar to those living outside that country, such as the Cumbia and Pasillo; but there are dozens of other fascinating grooves such as the Chalupa and Gaita that have yet to be fully explored in the context of a jazz setting.
This concert will present compositions that were written using less than typical rhythmical forms and concepts as springboards towards their creation.
