Kurt Rosenwinkel Trio

Rosenwinkel is consistently voted as one of the top guitarists in readers' and critics' polls. He is a cutting edge player with a unique but accessible sound and concept. He is equally comfortable distilling the melody of a lush ballad or burning on an up-tempo tune. Rosenwinkel is a master of phrasing, making odd-metered music sound completely natural and adding swing and energy to tunes played in standard time signatures. Perhaps that is why he keeps getting calls from the music's most discerning leaders like Paul Motian (Electric Bebop Band), Brian Blade, Chris Potter, Seamus Blake, Larry Goldings, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman and Danilo Perez to interpret their complex but melodically-infused music. As Rosenwinkel lives in Germany, it is unusual to find him playing in the United States and it is thus a privilege for the the Vermont Jazz Center to host him in a trio setting (group members are TBA) in this year's season.

His knack for appealing to connoisseurs as well as the uninitiated has made him one of the most widely applauded guitarists of the under-50 generation.
