The Vermont Jazz Center’s own 17 piece big band will be performing along with award winning special guest vocalist Sarah Elizabeth Charles, a female vocal quintet singing jazz classics in the close harmony style of the famed Andrews Sisters, and local favorite, Mark Anagnostopoulus.
This annual event celebrates Jazz's origins as dance music while paying tribute to the big band era. The Jazz Center's 17 piece big band is a collaboration of professional jazz musicians from the tri state area who enthusiastically interpret arrangements from the great dance orchestras of the 30's and 40's: Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman and others. This event has become a jazz center tradition and always proves to be a joyful, swinging affair replete with vocalists and top notch instrumental soloists. So prepare for a fantastic evening out with great music for listening and dancing as well as tasty desserts. You will be glad you "put on your dancing shoes".
